Each security has a number of Workbooks which store the technical
analysis work done on that security - eg trend lines drawn, indicators
created, annotations etc. The Work menu allows you to Save and Recall
these Workbooks.
If you are paging through a Series of securities
from different Market Sectors using the Relative Strength comparison
indicator you can have it Automatically select the correct sector index
for the security by setting "AUTO" as the relative comparison file. Your
chart will show “Smart RS-Comp” as indicator name on the chart.
When saving information to a function key you can
hold down Ctrl on the keyboard and then press the relevant "F2" to "F10"
function key on the keyboard. Alternatively hold down Ctrl and click the
relevant function key button. A third method is to click the Function
Key save button first and then click the relevant function key button.
You can setup your own keyboard short-cut keys
(i.e. make Ctrl-X close a window or Ctrl-V apply a volume indicators,
etc..). See the Toolbar chapter and the Keyboard commands section of the
Manual/On-Line help. (Select 'Customise' from the 'Toolbar' option of
the View menu. Select the Keyboard tab and then read the help!!)
You can create your own toolbars with groups of
commands that you occasionally need. When you need those commands,
switch the custom toolbar on, and when finished, turn it off. Quicker
than repeatedly using the menus for a set of commands when doing
specific tasks.
If you need to see a number of securities each
day, setup a Series with them. Put them in the order you want to see
them and then page through the Series.
If you need to see a number of securities each
day, setup a WorkSpace with them. Make this the Startup Workspace and
you will have them there each time you start Market Master.
Each window in a WorkSpace can contain a Series.
Setup a workspace and make each window the first item of a Series or
Sector.
When you load the WorkSpace you can page up and
down in each window and thus access a number of security lists
simultaneously.
If you have a number of items tiled in a WorkSpace,
you can maximise a window to see items in more detail. When you click
the window restore button it reduces in size and goes back to its
original tiled position.
You can have the toolbar buttons in Market Master
either normal or large. Select 'Customise' from the 'Toolbar' option of
the View menu. Select the Options tab and either tick or un-tick the
option 'Large Icons'.
You can have labels under the buttons in Market Master. Select 'Customise'
from the 'Toolbar' option of the View menu. Select the Toolbar tab. Now
click on a toolbar in the 'Toolbar' list to highlight/select it. Then
either tick or un-tick the option 'Show Text Labels'.
Each Security has a default workbook that you save
its Trend Lines, indicators, etc. into. With the 'Save Analysis As..'
option of the Work menu you can have as many additional workbooks as you
need, each with a name you supply!
Each workspace keeps a separate set of workbooks
for the securities in that workspace.
You can zoom in and out by also pressing the '+'
or '-' keys on the keyboard.
You can scroll a chart to its earliest data with
the 'Home' key, to the latest data with the 'End' key or a screen
forward or backwards with the left & right arrow keys of the keyboard.
When paging through a list of securities, pressing
<Ctrl><ENTER> on the keyboard will automatically add the current item to
the series called 'Quick Watch'.

The quickest way to change to another security is
to simply start typing the first few letters of its name. As you start
typing a dialog box will appear containing all the available securites
and it will automatically home in on the item that is the closest match
to the letters you have typed....
If you want to see what securities are available
for paging in the current window, simply double-click on the Chart Label
in the top-left corner of the chart & the paging list is displayed.
Whenever you open a new security, the other items
in the list from which you chose the security (i.e. other items in that
Sector, Portfolio, Series, etc..) automatically are placed in that
windows paging list. You can always page up or down through these items.
To turn a toolbar off or on simply right-click on
any available toolbar and select or deselect the appropriate toolbar
name.
To re-arrange buttons on a toolbar, simply
right-click on any available toolbar and select 'Customize'. This places
all toolbars into their Customize mode. You can re-arrange buttons,
and/or add new buttons. Close the 'Customise' window to exit the
Customize mode.
There are an unlimited number of Workbooks that
can be saved per security. Under the Work menu choose 'Save Analysis As'
to save work into a new Workbook using a name you supply.
When you Page Up or Down to the next security, you
can have the program automatically recall the Workbook analysis of the
new security, or you can choose for the analysis you have on the screen
(all analysis except security specific items on the main chart, like
trend lines) to remain. Choose Options-Paging to adjust this setting.
When you close a chart you can have the program
automatically save the analysis you have done on the security to be
saved to that security's default Workbook. Choose Options-Auto Save
Analysis to set this.

A Workspace stores a collection of charts with
their position on screen, paging lists and workspaces. It is useful
where you want to recall multiple charts, and their analysis, tiled on
the screen, as opposed to one chart maximised.
You can use a Quicklist to rank a list of
securities by a desired parameter - e.g. Market Cap. Use the Graph-Quicklist
menu then click on the column title to sort the list by that column.
You can copy a subset of securities from a Quicklist to a Series. Click and drag to select the securities in the Quicklist (hold <CTRL> to select non-consecutive items) and right-click
on any of the selected items to see this and other options.
The most accurate and clear way to email a chart
to someone is to use the Graph-Send As a Gif command. This copies the
active chart to a gif (lossless compression - small disk size with high
definition) and pastes it into an email. (Graph Menu, Send.., As a GIF)
A SIROC 34:13 is a good indicator of the medium
term trend
You can use the right mouse button to adjust the
properties of any object on the screen
You can update your Market Master program by
running iModem & selecting 'Program Refresh'
Remove the Status Bar to give you more room on the
screen to view the graph (Select/deselect 'Status Bar' option of the
View menu).
If you annotate a graph and click the Save
Analysis Button, your annotation will be recalled next time you open
that chart.
To create an indicator of an indicator - click on
the indicator screen to activate it, and then click on the button of the
indicator you wish to create
Hold down the Control key when clicking an F Key to save your indicator
selections to the F keys
When setting up the F-Keys, why not keep F-2 as a
'clean graph' with nothing on it at all. That way when you have finished
putting trend lines, moving averages and indicators on a particular
share, instead of having to delete each item individually you just click
on F-2 and immediately you have a clear graph.
Remember that trend lines give more realistic
results if used with bar graphs.
If the item you are looking at has more than
doubled in value over the timer period you are viewing it, then draw
your trend lines on the Logged data will provide greater accuracy.
You may know that Alt-Tab cycles you through open
programs and windows, but did you know that Alt-Shift-Tab cycles you
backward through the same list?
Use the Page Up and Down keys on the keyboard or
the Up and Down arrows on the screen to scroll through the current
paging list.
To simplify viewing your favorite list of
securities each day, create a Series or a Workspace containing those
items.
If you wish to delete all trend lines, right click
over any trend line, and choose Remove All.
Auto Update can automatically launch
Market Master. Check the Options menu in Auto Update.
